WHAT IS THE AIM OF NUTRITION AND DIETETICS COURSE?

The Nutrition and Dietetics course aims to educate dieticians who provide a solution for the development of a social awareness about nutrition; identify and evaluate individual and social problems in the field of nutrition and diet; inform the individuals and society about these matters; provide diets to improve human health and sustain life quality; enable identification of nutritional requirements for age groups; develop and implement disease-specific diet programs; are eligible to perform production, management, organization, research and development activities at foodservice companies and food industry; embrace ethical norms; are aware of the world and embrace lifelong learning.

 

WHAT İS THE COURSE LENGTH AND WHAT ARE THE INTERNSHİP OPPORTUNİTİES OF NUTRİTİON AND DIETETICS COURSE?

Nutrition and Dietetics course is 4 year programme, students will consolidate their theoretical knowledge with Nutritional Anthropometry, Principles of Nutrition laboratories. Students will pratically apply their occupational skills gained at summer and final year internships under watch.

Nutrition and Dietetics has a broad and new employment opportunities. Labor force graduated from this course is needed in private sector and government institutions. Dietician profession is categorised as in the same group of profession with Medicine, Dentistry and Nursery. Dietician is the only profession who is in charge of 

  • Investigating, evaluating and solving the health problems caused by food and nutrition
  • Enabling the usage of food sources in a healthy way, informing individuals and society and creating awareness about it
  • Planning, training, performing and tracking suitable diet programmes for treatment of medical and special conditions by taking into account the food compositions

Besides being academics, graduates can serve as researcher, trainer and therapist at medical institutions, child and elderly care homes. In addition, graduates can be employed at other foodservice companies, private and government organisations about food and nutrition. Some of the important employment fields are listed below;
